Intervention works – Practicing Family Mindfulness

Building Family mindfulness

How do I succeed at Practicing Family Mindfulness? Mindfulness is a focus on the present while being aware of your emotions. What is that?

This is how your body feels with everything from emotion to physical. That’s head to toe plus your surroundings and how that effects your emotional state. Be curious and open to understanding what our each individual is feeling and experiencing.  Some simple exercises or activities can help you develop some fun games to practice with your family. Here are some simple Mindfulness Practices for Families.

Mindfulness Games:

Balloon Breath –  First, simply imagine a balloon above your head as you fill your lungs with air and slowly let it out. Make balloon animals with very young children to engage and have fun. Talk about the balloon animals; color, size, type of animal and decide on a name for your new balloon pet!

Calming Starfish Breathing – Then, help your loved one trace their hand and deep breathe during the tracing of their hand. This is a great practice for children of all ages.

Settling Glitter Bottle – Next, spend some me time. This could be with a snow globe. Create your own glitter bottle and enjoy the calm as you watch the glitter settle. No snow globe or glitter bottle? Imagine one in wonderful detail.
Practice this with your children, you can ask your little one; What happens when the particles settle? Be open and curious to their observation as you both watch the glitter settle.

Pleasure Gazing – Finally, take a few minutes to notice all the details of your loved ones beautiful face. Allow your mental criticism to melt away and reflect their strength capability and gratitude.

Family Mindfulness Mindset:

Building this into your family’s experience can reduce your stress level and allow you to connect with each other in a restorative way.
